Choosing the Right Ammo Box

Start with your exact calibre, then choose the capacity and personalisation that suit your kit. This guide explains how to choose from the UK-made ammo storage boxes at RNR Labs.

1. Match the exact calibre

Choose a box listed for the ammunition you want to store. Our inserts are designed around specific cartridge profiles, so similar-looking rounds or similar calibre names do not automatically mean the same fit.

For example, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC and 6.5x55 Swedish have separate product listings. Likewise, .22LR, .22 WMR and .22 Hornet are different options. Check the full calibre name on the product page and select the correct variant where a box offers multiple calibres.

If you cannot find your calibre, or you use a particular cartridge length that you want us to check, contact RNR Labs before ordering. Include the calibre, the capacity you need and any relevant dimensions.

2. Choose a useful capacity

How many rounds do you normally take with you? Choose enough space for your usual outing while keeping your kit easy to organise. Capacities vary by calibre; the product page gives the exact round count.

  • Mini and pocket boxes: a compact option when you only need a small quantity. Our mini range includes 20- and 25-round boxes for selected calibres; ClipLOCK pocket boxes offer another compact choice.

  • Medium-capacity boxes: selected models hold 36, 40 or 50 rounds. A 50-round box can be a practical starting point when that capacity is available for your calibre.

  • Larger boxes: selected models hold 100, 105 or 120 rounds. Useful when you prefer to keep more ammunition organised in one box.

You can also use separate boxes to keep different batches organised. Keep the calibre and any batch labels clear so that each box is easy to identify.

3. Pick colours and lid markings

Many RNR Labs boxes offer choices for the box, text and insert colours. A contrasting text colour can make the markings easier to read, while different box colours can help distinguish your kit.

Personalisation can include a name, initials, calibre markings or shooting club branding. Check the options on your chosen product and provide the requested details. For custom colours, artwork or a club order, see our personalisation page or contact us to discuss what is possible.

4. Check the product details

Our boxes are made from polymer and hand-finished in Yorkshire. Before ordering, check the listed calibre, capacity, colour options and any personalisation instructions. Product photographs show examples; use the selected options to specify your own order.

These are ammunition organisers. Do not assume that a storage box is a waterproof case, a lockable security safe or a substitute for any storage arrangements you need.
